All Tangled Up

She had always been a runner. In many ways. Running like the wind, yet running away.

But, she couldn’t hide. The more miles she logged, the more exhausted she became. It was supposed to free her. To help her live.

All she ever wanted was to live. To be able to lay it all down and trust Him with this life she was supposed to be living, was her heart’s desire.

There was one small problem, a minor caveat. If she let Him lead the way, take the wheel, then she had to let go of her desired future. Let Him lead her and accept His preferred future for her.

What would happen if He allowed her to hurt? What would happen if things didn’t work out the way she envisioned?

She was all tangled up. Twisted and knotted. Every path she took led to the same destinations of frustration, fear, and fatigue. She had her whole world on her back even though deep down she knew that He holds the whole world in His hands.

Fear was the tie that bound her up and kept her hostage in her own 8×8 block. Through much pain and heartache, she began to grow tired of living small. That 8×8 block of cement began to crush her spirit. She wanted to experience His preferred future for her.

Letting go of her plans for her future was one of the most frightening things she had ever done. However, when she prayed with open hands instead of clinched fists and asked Him to lead the way, He began to show her that she could trust Him. He told her that He would protect her in the midst of pain.

Nothing would be able to separate her from His love, He promised.

Coaching question: What are you running to or from that is keeping you from running to Him? It’s time to let go, my friend. Stop hiding and start living. Your preferred future is much better than what you are holding on to. Just let go…
